We did all 8 episodes, together, so it felt like shooting a very long movie.
In New Orleans and Memphis. I wanted to bring a language that was mostly used on independent filmmaking in Mexico and Europe into a HBO/cinemax tv show.
Mostly hand-held, we never used steady-cam, camera was always at eye-level, and scenes were attacked in few longer shots.
We also had the fun challenge of having a ‘oner’ in each episode. 108 being a 15 minute vietnam massacre.
We did it as a big movie. 70’s southern pulp.
